DC Xcellerator

The DC Xcellerator is an automated suite of software dedicated to maximizing efficiencies in all of the picking systems housed in a distribution center. DC Xcellerator analyzes the full range of picking systems -- manual, semi-automatic, and automatic - in real time. Analysis that used to take weeks or months can now take place in a matter of minutes.

DC Xcellerator details system effectiveness in its current configuration, and recommends adjustments in product placement, machinery and personnel to maximize Center success. This innovative software allows facilities to operate at peak efficiencies, which translates into significant cost savings throughout the year.

DC Xcellerator software can also be used as a planning tool for procurement of additional picking systems and integration into the center. The suite is designed to grow with customer needs.

DC Xcellerator Modules

The software suite consists of a series of modules. Companies can choose which ones are appropriate for their business needs.

1. DC Xcellerator Management – The configuration modules allows you to uniquely identify the discreet systems throughout your distribution system.

2. Order and Product Analyzer – This pulls into the database daily customer orders in real time. The module builds the database necessary to run the analysis.

3. Picking System Analyzer – This analyzes every product against all defined picking systems in the distribution center. It determines if a product is a good candidate for each picking system based on a product’s physical and movement characteristics.

4. Item Slotting Module – The module shows the operator all recommended moves from one picking area to the next. Reports and graphs are displayed to assist them in making those moves.

5. Diagnostics and Alerts Module – If DC Xcellerator detects any problems in real time, it will send an alarm, log the problem, and display alerts for supervisor review.

6. The Picking System Health Meter – This provides the operator with a snapshot of how healthy the system is in terms of picking activity. It performs a comparative analysis of existing operations versus proposed operations to illustrate the benefits of recommended moves. The meter will bring inefficiencies to your attention.

7. Picking System Balancer Module – This module allows the customer to compare the current picking system slotting strategy against an optimal strategy for a specific picking system. Imbalances are graphically displayed.

8. Order Scheduling Module – This takes customer order files and analyzes picking requirements against defined picking system parameters. It sequences them to maximize each picking area’s efficiency.

9. Workforce Planning Module – The module predicts how many people are needed in an area for replenishment or picking. It evaluates demand versus available resources and highlights any deficiencies.

10. Distribution System Wizard Module- This software module records all picking activities, including any irregularities logged for a tote/order. That information can be displayed on hand-held portable devices, eliminating the need to walk to a central computer.

11. Simulation Management Module – A sophisticated tool that allows the customer to simulate DC Xcellerator recommended moves and then see it implemented within the simulation model. This permits a customer to visualize the effects of picking operation moves without actually making them.

Standard Module Package - includes DC Xcellerator Management, Order and Product Analyzer, and Picking System Analyzer. This package gives the customer the ability to make their own recommended moves.

Premium Module Package - includes Modules 1 through 7: DC Xcellerator Management, Order and Product Analyzer, Picking System Analyzer, Item Slotting Module, Diagnostics and Alerts Module, Picking System Health Meter and Picking System Balancer. This package enables SI Systems to gather all the graphs and reports, and uses our modules to suggest cost-saving moves. Enhancements to the Premium Package include modules 8 through eleven: Order Scheduling Module, Workforce Planning Module, Distribution System Wizard Module and Simulation Module. This package provides customers with a more complete tool for optimizing their order distribution process.

DC Xcellerator reviews information throughout the day – it constantly imports orders and data. It also saves historical data and tracks it down to the day level, product level, location and machine level. This software can analyze data for an entire year or over a specific time period.

The pull report lists items recommended for movement in priority order; by detailing what to pull, where to pull it from, and shows where it’s heading. Once the moves are made, DC Xcellerator automatically updates the databases.
